National Oil Corporation of Kenya has appointed a new chief executive, James Nyamongo in an acting capacity.

He takes over from Ms. MaryJane Mwangi who made a decision not to renew her contract during a Board meeting held on 09th October 2019.

Maryjane joined National Oil in 2008 as the Sale and Marketing Manager and rising to the ranks as General Manager, Downstream Operations at the National Oil Corporation of Kenya under the former CEO Sumayya Hassan-Athmani.

Maryjane had also been put on acting capacity at the state corporation in February 2016 after Sumayya Athmani was sent on compulsory leave. “During a board meeting held on October 9, 2019, the Chief Executive Officer communicated her decision not to renew her contract. In this regard, the board has accepted her decision,” the Kibuga Kariithi chaired board said.

“The board has thanked Maryjane Mwangi for her over eleven years of distinguished service to the corporation and wishes her the very best in all her future engagements,” the statement read.

Prior to his new role, he was the chief administration officer at Kenya Pipeline Corporation.

Nyamongo served as the chief accountant between 1990 and May 2003.

NOCK is a fully intergrated state corporation involved in the petroleum supply chain covering the upstream oil and gas exploration, midstream petroleum infrastructure development and downstream marketing of petroleum products.
