Safaricom Plc grew its fixed internet market share to 46.1 per cent for the second quarter of the year that ended December 31, 2022

Safaricom is offering 50 per cent discount for its Home Fibre packages, for the next two months, August and September 2019, to all its new customers.

Chief Executive Officer Michael Joseph, said this was in line with the telco’s quest to offer high-speed broadband accessibility at affordable prices.

“As a result, we have designed the 50 percent discount to appeal to those who would like to experiment and try out the service,” said Michael Joseph in a statement on Monday.

“We continue to record remarkable growth driven by demand for unlimited entertainment, working at home, home CCTV among other emerging customer needs,” he added.

New customers will automatically qualify for the offer once they dial *400# and choose “Get Safaricom Home Fibre”. The Bronze package will entitle customers to a one-month half-price offer while new customers on the Silver, Gold, and Diamond packages will enjoy two months at the 50 percent off pricing.

The company is also looking to extend its fibre coverage to more than 15,000 additional homes across the country over the next two months. Some of the areas to be covered include parts of Kisumu and Thika, Kizingo in Mombasa, and Kinoo, Komarock and Ruaka in Nairobi.

The service currently reaches more than 300,000 homes across the country, with more than 107,000 customers connected across Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyeri and Thika.
