Michael Mutiga, managing director of Citi Bank tapped by Safaricom as head in charge of strategy and acquisitions effective 1st May 2022. Amid high demand and supply constraints, Apple and Samsung enjoyed nearly 60 percent of the global tablet market in the January-March quarter, according to a new report. Apple iPadOS shipments (sell-in) fell 6 percent (year-on-year) to 15.8 million units in Q1 2022, with worldwide market share climbing 1.7 percentage points to 39 percent as the tech giant outpaced the market, according to market research firm Strategy Analytics. Kenya’s biggest telecom operator Safaricom has named Stephen Kiptinness as its new chief strategy officer with effect from 1st May 2022, subject to relevant regulatory approvals. If approved, he will be replacing Stephen Chege who is the current Vodacom Group Chief External Affairs Officer.   Kiptinness will be responsible for the organization’s reputation management, public policy, and legal and regulatory affairs. Google Cloud has hired Jack Ngare to join Google Cloud’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) as a Technical Director. Ngare is joining Google Cloud from Microsoft with over 15 years of experience in various business functions. Kenya Association of Manufacturers Chief Executive Phyllis Wakiaga is exiting from the association after nine years of service. The lobby’s Board Chair Mucai Kunyiha said Wakiaga has left to pursue a new professional challenge in an Africa Advisory role.
