Dr. James Mwangi, Group Managing Director and CEO of Equity Group Holdings, has been appointed to the Global Board of Advisors of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), a leading independent and nonpartisan US think tank focused on foreign policy and international relations.
In a statement, Mwangi expressed his commitment to “bringing a positive African narrative” to the CFR’s discussions.
He emphasised the significance of this appointment for Africa, stating, “The chance to explain Africa’s contributions to the world… will mean greater productive collaborations for countries around the world to sustainably partner with the people of Africa.”
The CFR’s Global Board of Advisors brings together influential figures from 25 countries to provide diverse international perspectives and foster dialogue on critical global issues.
This prestigious group includes prominent leaders such as Aliko Dangote, CEO of Dangote Group; Julie Bishop, former Prime Minister of Australia; and Mo Ibrahim, founder of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
The CFR also has a dedicated Africa Program, which seeks to enhance understanding of African political, security, and economic issues through research, publications, and engagement with policymakers and academics.
