Mombasa, Kenya’s coastal gem, received a new connection to the United Arab Emirates with flydubai’s inaugural non-stop service from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Moi International Airport (MBA).
This marks the first UAE national carrier to offer direct flights on this route, further boosting tourism and trade between the two countries.

Frequent flights and flexible options
The service operates four times a week (Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) with convenient timing:
- FZ1289 from DXB: Sun & Wed (09:20-13:55), Mon & Fri (16:00-20:25)
- FZ1290 from MBA: Sun & Wed (14:55-21:25), Mon & Fri (21:25-03:55)
Flydubai uses both Boeing 737-8 and 737-800 aircraft, offering different flight durations.
“This arrival strengthens connectivity between our nations and showcases the growing partnership between Kenya and the UAE,” Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Managing Director, Henry Ogoy, emphasized the importance of flydubai’s service.
“This flight reflects our commitment to expanding our African network and offering convenient travel to one of East Africa’s most attractive destinations,” said Sudhir Sreedharan, flydubai’s Senior Vice President.
Flydubai has now grown its network in Africa to 11 destinations in 10 countries, including Addis Ababa, Alexandria, Asmara, Dar es Salaam, Djibouti, Entebbe, Hargeisa, Juba, Mogadishu and Zanzibar.
Flydubai joins Kenya Airways, which operates four weekly flights and daily non-stop services from Nairobi to Dubai. As of January 2024, over 13 airlines serve Mombasa, including Ethiopian Airlines, Condor, and Discover Airlines.
