Safaricom PLC has announced revised M-PESA transaction fees for 2025. These changes aim to simplify pricing and enhance user experience.

Key Changes

  • Harmonized Inter-network Transfer Fees: Sending money to Airtel Money and Telkom’s T-Kash now incurs the same charges as Safaricom-to-Safaricom transfers.
  • Discontinuation of Unregistered User Transfers: To mitigate fraud and money laundering risks, transfers to unregistered mobile money users have been discontinued.
    • Revised Transaction Limits: Maximum single transaction: Ksh250,000
    • Maximum daily transaction and balance limit: Ksh500,000

Important Notes

  • Minimum withdrawal from an M-PESA agent: Ksh50
  • Initiate M-PESA self-reversal by sending the transaction confirmation to 456.  
  • Direct deposits to other M-PESA accounts at agent outlets are not permitted.
  • Registration at agent outlets requires Kenyan Passports or National IDs.
  • For registration at Safaricom Shops and Care Desks, foreign passports, military IDs, and foreign certificates are accepted.  
  • For deposits and withdrawals, Kenyan Passports, National IDs, Foreign Passports, Military IDs, and Foreigner Certificates are valid.
