Leading smartphone manufacturer OPPO has established the OPPO AI Center, which is dedicated to advancing AI research and development. 

The Center will focus on user-centric AI applications and features to equip future OPPO devices with cutting-edge AI capabilities.

OPPO also revealed plans to integrate generative AI features into the Reno11 series globally by Q2 2024. This includes the innovative OPPO AI Eraser function, alongside potentially more functionalities.

“Following feature phones and smartphones, next-gen AI smartphones will represent the third major transformative stage in the mobile phone industry. In the era of AI smartphones, the mobile phone industry and user experience will witness revolutionary changes,” said Fredrique Achieng, PR Manager, OPPO Kenya. 

“OPPO is committed to shaping this future by establishing the AI Center and fostering user-centric AI development.”

The OPPO AI Center will leverage OPPO’s expertise in large language models and generative AI to define the core functionalities of AI smartphones:

Efficient AI Processing: Optimizing hardware to meet the computational demands of advanced AI tasks.

Real-World Awareness: Utilizing sensors to gather user and environmental data for intelligent decision-making.

Self-Learning Capabilities: Enabling continuous improvement and adaptation based on user behaviour.

Multimodal Content Generation: Providing users with creative tools and personalized content suggestions.

AI-powered services will be integrated seamlessly, offering users a more personalized and intuitive smartphone experience. 

The AI Center will also develop a platform to support this innovative ecosystem, empowering developers to create next-generation AI applications.

OPPO recently introduced its large language model, AndesGPT, boasting 180 billion parameters. 

AndesGPT technology underpins features like intelligent object removal in photos and phone conversation summaries, already available on the Find X7 series.
