AAR Insurance, a leading provider of insurance solutions, has joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).
UNGC is a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.
AAR joins other organizations globally that are committed to taking responsible business action towards a more sustainable future.
AAR Group CEO Dr Patrick Gatonga said, “One of our core values is integrity. We act honestly and adhere to the highest standards of moral and ethical values, incorporating these core principles into our daily work and activities. Our word is our bond. We safeguard the wealth and health of households in Africa. Today, we are proud of our values aligning with UNGC and SDGs principles, and we know we shall commit to the highest levels of corporate practices while focusing on sustainability.”
By joining the UN Global Compact, AAR Insurance has publicly committed to adhere to the organisation’s Ten Principles, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to communicate its progress annually.
The UNGC membership is in line with three key SDGs that are aligned with AAR Insurance’s core values and business model: SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
These goals reflect AAR Insurance’s dedication to promoting access to quality healthcare, fostering gender equality and women empowerment, and addressing climate change through responsible business practices.
Additionally, the insurance firm commits to upholding and protecting human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption through its business practices.
Ms Judy Njino, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Kenya, congratulated AAR Insurance for taking the bold step and committing to supporting the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the SDGs.
“Today, we challenge AAR Insurance to drive impact beyond the walls of your business and bring others along with you on this journey. My unshaken belief is that through bold actions and collaboration, we stand a good chance to end extreme poverty, address the adverse climate change impact and have a brighter future.”
