Kenya Seeks $750 mln Loan from the World Bank

The World Bank Group said on Thursday it has decided to discontinue publication of its "Doing Business" rankings of country business climates after a review of data irregularities in the 2018 and 2020 reports.

Kenya has asked the World Bank for a $750 million loan under the Development Policy Operation framework, the finance minister said on Tuesday.

“The proposed package under discussion with the World Bank aims at promoting sustainable, resilient, and inclusive growth,” Njuguna Ndung’u said in a speech at a World Bank event on Tuesday.

In June, Kenya received a $750 million loan from the World Bank to support its budget and help the country recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
