The Employment and Labour Relations Court ordered Kenya Airways pilots to resume work after four days of strike.

In her interim orders on Tuesday afternoon, Lady Justice Anna Mwaure ordered pilots to report to their duties at the airline by 6 am Wednesday, November 9, “unconditionally.”

“The respondent’s members and especially the Kenya Airways pilots resume their duties as pilots at 6 am on November 9, 2022, unconditionally,” the judge ordered.

The Employment and Labour Relations court had summoned 11 KALPA officials after refusing to call off the pilots’ strike that entered its fourth day on Tuesday.

Kenya Airways commenced contempt of court proceedings against 11 Kenya Airlines Pilots Association officials for disobeying an order that stopped the industrial action.

In addition, the judge ordered KQ to allow pilots to work without any disciplinary action pending the determination of suit.

The judge directed the applicant to file their written submissions by November 15 and respondents by November 17.

The matter shall be mentioned on 21st November 2022 to confirm compliance.

“Since the parties have come to court and the court is fully seized of the matter, the parties are ordered to refrain from prosecuting the matter through the media or in the public gallery and allow the court to handle the matter henceforth,” she added.
