President Uhuru Kenyatta extended the 9 pm-4 am nationwide curfew and other containment measures until September 29.
In a statement on Monday, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua said President Uhuru Kenyatta will issue new guidelines Tuesday after a scheduled National COVID-19 Conference to be held on Monday, September 28.
“The National COVID-19 Conference will be presided over by his excellency the President on Monday, 28th September 2020, and will feature participants from the entire spectrum of our national life. This pivotal conference is tipped to be a turning point in Kenya’s fight against the novel coronavirus Disease,” Kinyua said.
The Ministry of Health reported 152 new cases of the novel coronavirus, tested in the country between Saturday and Sunday.
The new cases are from a sample of 2,224 tests that pushed the total number of cumulative tests carried out to 516,706.
The Health Ministry reported 110 new recoveries. Total recoveries stand at 23,887. However, two patients succumbed to the virus, pushing the total number of fatalities in the country to 648.

In his last address, President Kenyatta said the country’s economy had fared well in spite of some sectors having been hard hit due to Covid-19.
He disclosed that the Government’s Coronavirus Stimulus Package announced in March has put KSh. 47.8 billion in citizen’s pockets including Ksh 14 billion shillings VAT refunds.
