Juventus has sacked its head coach Maurizio Sarri after the Italian manager saw his side crush out of the Champions League.

While Sarri sealed the club’s ninth consecutive Serie A title, supporters and the club’s hierarchy have been left unimpressed by the former Chelsea and Napoli boss.

Juventus crushed out of Champions League on away goals to French side Lyon on Friday night.

The announcement of his dismissal was made after a crisis meeting held between members of the club’s hierarchy.

It is also believed that the board has identified Real Madrid Boss Zinedine Zidane as the top pick to replace the 61-year old manager.

Juventus are keen to bring back Zidane to Turin, who featured 212 times for the club, but it will be a tough deal to get over the line with the Frenchman still tied down to Real Madrid.

It is believed that the 48-year-old Pochettino, who remains out of work after his Tottenham dismissal, would have accepted Juventus’ approach through an intermediary.

The decision to bring an early end to Sarri’s reign may cost the club around £27million, should the tactician be unable to find a new role during the 24 months that were left on his deal.

It was decided during crisis talks held soon after Friday’s game that Sarri was no longer deemed the man capable of helping lead Juventus back to continental glory.
