Kenya’s Ministry of Health has described the coastal city of Mombasa as a ‘worrying situation’ in the country’s fight against coronavirus pandemic after 11 of the 15 confirmed cases were reported on Friday.
“Mombasa is becoming a worrying situation and we need to take more measures to contain Mombasa,” said Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.
The 15 cases reported raised the national tally to 411.
According to the Ministry, the Majority of cases reported in Nairobi are because of mandatory quarantine and Mombasa due to local transmission.

From the cases, eight female and seven male patients aged between two and 79 were confirmed positive out of 1,434 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The Ministry further said the number of recoveries increased to 150 after six more patients were discharged.
To date, 21,702 tests have been conducted.
The most affected age group is those in the most productive age group 30-59.
Friday, the ministry commenced mass testing in Kawangware that has 13 cases.
“From one case in Kawangware, we now have 13 cases in the area. This is a hotspot area and that is why we are doing mass testing,” Mutahi noted.
Eastleigh has 11 reported cases. Kilimani has six cases, while Kilieleshwa has five.
Mombasa, Mvita is a hot spot with 36 cases.
