Kenya reported 10 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, pushing its cumulative total number of infections to 384, including 15 deaths.
From 508 samples tested, the Ministry of Health said 10 positive cases were identified and 5 new recoveries. This brings to 129 the total number of recoveries.
“While we celebrate these recoveries, we are disturbed that re-integration has not been easy for others because of being stigmatized considering our constant appeal and massive education, across many platforms, that Covid 19 is a disease like any other,” said Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, CAS Health.
“We appeal for compassion, understanding and celebrating those who have been able to recover,” she said.
On the other hand, the ministry said it is taking additional and deliberate steps to partner with patients who have recovered to create awareness.
Dr Mwangangi, however, emphasised that counties that have not had any case to remain alert.
“We are seeing a trend where more new positive cases are recorded in Nairobi and Mombasa. This should be a pointer to the immense work that we have to do in these two counties and not a license for the other counties to celebrate and drop their guard.”
Nine cases in Mombasa were picked from among the communities and each of the following areas had one case; Old Town, Santana, Miritini, Bamburi, Mikindani, Kibokoni, Ganjoni, Memon and Tudor.
The Nairobi case was from Kawagware.
