The 2020 Bloggers Association of Kenya (Bake) Awards, which recognize and celebrate outstanding bloggers in different categories, are now officially postponed.

Although the awards had passed through the submissions phase, a statement from Lolyne Ongeri, Digital Communications Executive, Bake said the judging process, online voting, and the Awards Gala, which was slated for June this year, all are being postponed.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to postpone this year’s BAKE Awards. We have taken this action due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis and the uncertainty surrounding when things will be able to get back to normal,” said Ms Ongeri.

“We are devastated to cancel this celebration of the efforts Kenyan bloggers have made to generate and promote creative, innovative and quality content,” she added.

The BAKE Awards 2020 was launched on February 1, 2020, and coincided with the submission phase it accepted submissions in various categories.

The submission phase ended on March 20, 2020. The judging phase was supposed to commence on March 23, 2020, but due to the health crisis, we decided to postpone the process indefinitely.

“For now, we will continue to support bloggers as we have always done and when the crisis is over, we will honour the bloggers for the good work they continue to do.”
