- UEFA hopes to stage the final in Istanbul on August 29
- Competition is currently on hold due to coronavirus pandemic
UEFA is planning to stage this year’s Champions League Final on August 29 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
The final was initially set for May 30 but was pushed ahead due to the global pandemic.
Both the Champions League and Europa League were suspended as the knockout stages had already commenced and were in the last-16 phase of the competitions.

For this to happen, UEFA hopes that football will resume in July or early August.
None of the major football leagues have officially set a return date as of yet and UEFA has urged them all not to end their campaigns prematurely. If they do, they have been warned that it could affect teams’ qualification for next season.
Ataturk Olympic Stadium is home to the Turkish National team, but Galatasaray, Istanbul Basaksehir, Kasimpasa and Besiktas have been using in since its inception in 2002.
Further reports indicate that UEFA was considering to have the remaining fixtures played out over a three-week period during August. This could lead to huge fixture congestion for the teams considering that the league games are still not concluded.
UEFA plans to hold calls with national associations on Tuesday then an executive committee on Thursday to lay out plans for scenarios on completing the competition.
