Wananchi Online, the provider of Zuku service, has regained its spot in fixed internet connections with a 35 percent share of the market in the quarter ending 31 December 2019.
This was attributed to returns from the group’s subsidiaries, Wananchi Telecom and Simbanet.
During the period, Zuku added 23,885 fixed subscribers with 175,433 compared to Safaricom who only added 11,207 ending the year with a cumulative of 165,810 connections.
“During the period under review, fibre-to-the-office/home data/internet subscriptions recorded the highest number of broadband subscriptions,” the Communications Authority said in the report.
Jamii Telecommunications had 78, 149 connections in the period to December, a 17 percent rise from the three months ended September last year.
