Kenya on Saturday registered seven new cases of Covid-19 from Nairobi County according to the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.
This brings the total number of cases to 38 with one death.
The new cases were from 81 samples analyzed in the last 24 hours.
“Our first patient together with the third patient have tested negative in their first re-testing. A repeat test is scheduled in the next 48 hours; we remain hopeful that the repeat test will be negative, confirming full recovery to allow for their discharge from our treatment centre,” he said.
They are four Kenyans, two Congolese and a Chinese citizen. Three of them are female and four male.
“Out of the seven, four had a history of traveling from countries with active transmission, one had travelled from Mombasa while two did not have a travel history,” he said.
“All the 7 cases are from Nairobi County. This now puts Nairobi County as leading with 28 cases of those who have so far turned positive; Kilifi has 6, Mombasa has 2, while Kajiado and Kwale have one each.”
Two of the new cases came from contacts of previously infected patients.
Out of the 38 confirmed cases in the country, 21 are male, 16 female. The Ministry of Health is so far monitoring 1141 close contacts.
