Amid concerns over the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, Kenya reported the full recovery of one Covid-19 patient on Wednesday
However, the head of state said the country had confirmed three positive coronavirus cases bringing the number to 28 cases.
“Today, we have received confirmation of an additional three cases bringing our national tally to 28 confirmed cases,” President Kenyatta said.
“At the same time, and amidst this trend, I am also pleased to announce that numerous other suspected cases have been found to be negative after rigorous testing. But more importantly, today, we have registered our first patient who has fully recovered from this virus,” the President said.
On Tuesday, the number of coronavirus cases in the country stood at 25.
he also said more persons, both Kenyans and Foreigners, remain under close monitoring under either self-quarantine or compulsory-quarantine; measures.
“Our Nation’s response has been comprehensive and multi-faceted; with the Ministry of Health leading the charge by announcing policy measures and behavioural protocols, geared towards limiting the spread of this disease.”
President Kenyatta also announced measures that will offer relief and increase disposable income to citizens. Among the measures include a 100 percent tax relief for people earning a gross income of Ksh24,000, a reduction of Pay As You Earn (P.A.Y.E.) from 30 percent to 20 percent and a reduction of resident income tax/corporation tax from 30 percent to 25 percent.
