Higher landing costs of fuel in September has resulted in an increase in the price of petrol, diesel, and kerosene in the new review by Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).
The authority raised prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene by KSh2.54, KSh2.65 and KSh2.98 per litre respectively.
In a statement, it says the changes in this month’s prices are a consequence of the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increasing by 0.86 per cent from $459.27 per cubic metre in September 2019 to $463.24 per cubic metre in October. Diesel increased by 2.08 per cent from $491.94 per cubic metre to $502.15 per cubic metre and Kerosene increasing by 2.73 per cent from $486.55 per cubic metre to $499.85 per cubic metre.
In Nairobi, Super Petrol will retail at KSh110.59, Diesel and Kerosene will retail at KSh104.61 and KSh104.06 respectively.
In Mombasa Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will retail at KSh108.53, KSh102.56 and KSh102.02 respectively.
In Kisumu Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will retail at Sh110.98, KSh105.20 and KSh104.67 respectively.
“The prices are inclusive of an eight percent Value Added Tax(VAT) while the computation has factored the revised Import Declaration Fee of 3.5 percent and the Railway Development Lev of two percent. The revised pipeline tariffs has resulted in a KSh0.50 per litre saving in the overall price,” said the statement.
