Kenya’s Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced reduced fuel prices effective from Sunday, April 14, 2024, to May 14, 2024.
Pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene have been reduced by Ksh5.31 per litre, Ksh10.00 per litre, and Ksh18.68 per litre, respectively.
In Nairobi, super petrol will retail at Ksh193.84 per litre, diesel at Ksh180.38 and kerosene at Ksh170.06.
These prices include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT). The reduction is attributed to adjustments in global fuel prices and Kenyan tax regulations.
In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, we have calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th April 2024 to 14th May 2024.

While most cities saw a decrease, a few areas will still pay over Ksh200 per litre for Super Petrol. These include: Nakalale (Ksh201.06), Lokichogio (Ksh201.14), and Lokitaung (Ksh202.07)
EPRA cited fluctuations in global fuel prices as the primary reason for the adjustment. The landed cost of imported fuel increased slightly for Super Petrol (4.86%) but remained nearly flat for diesel (0.003%) and decreased for kerosene (0.69%) compared to March 2024.
“The average landed cost for imported Super Petrol increased by 4.86% from USD703.49 per cubic metre in February 2024 USD737.69 per cubic metre in March 2024, Diesel increased by 0.003% from USD722.49 per cubic metre to USD722.51 per cubic metre while Kerosene decreased by 0.69% from USD730.35 per cubic metre to USD725.31 per cubic metre,” read the statement from EPRA Director General Daniel Kiptoo.
