Classic cars, trendy fashion, family fun and great business networks is what will be the hallmark during the 48th Edition of CBA Concours d’Elegance slated for September 30, 2018 at the Ngong Race Course.
This annual series has been organized by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club themed “Aladdin and the Magical Rides”.
This year’s entries include a 1968 Buick Riviera that has a seven litre engine, eight cars made before 1940, three Rolls Royce and four motorcycles made on and before 1960.
Spectators will get to check out the 1925 Triumph motorcycle entered by Dominique Antoine.
Peter Giraudo will also showcase his 1959 BSA Shooting Star which will be entering the competition for the first time. Both of these ancient bikes will be judged in the class for motorcycles made in 1960 or earlier.
Sachit Shah will be entering his 1959 Mercedes Benz 300 D for the first time while Anwar Fatehdin another newcomer will be showcasing his 1930 Ford Model A. Another Ford Model A owned by Joseph Kamau will also be showcased for the very first time.
The process of judging cars starts on the Total Excellium inspection ramp and continues along the judging line with assessments for the external finish, the interior and boot, external finish, the engine, and a safety check.
Following the sub-theme of the old and the new in the Heritage Collection, there will be an electric powered car which has been made by students of St. Andrew School and a motorcycle using solar-generated electricity.
Throughout the day there will be flypasts and in the afternoon there will be a spectacular free fall parachute before the prize giving ceremony. The completion of judging will be followed by a grand parade of all the Concours cars and motorcycles in front of the grandstand.
Concours d’Elegance is a term of French origin that means a “competition of elegance” and refers to an event where prestigious vehicles are displayed and judged.
