Kenya’s biggest telecoms firm, Safaricom, plans to monetize data from its over 35 million active customer databases. However, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology says this will not be possible, as it would be infringing on customers’ rights if they sold their location-based data to third parties without their consent.
