Fly540, East Africa’s low-cost airline seeks permission to expand its domestic routes in Kenya from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.
KCAA has therefore asked the public in a Gazette notice for views.
“Any representation in favour of or against any application should be made in writing to the Director-General, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, so as to reach the Authority within twenty-one (21) days from the date of publication of this notice. Such representation should also be sent by the person making it to the applicant by registered mail at the same time it is sent to the Authority,” said KCAA.
If approved, Fly540 will operate flights between Nanyuki, Meru, Amboseli, Lewa, Isiolo, Samburu and Moyale.
The airline intends to use flights: CRJ100, DHC8, E145, A319, MD82 and B737-300 based at JKIA, Wilson Airport and Moi International Airport on the new routes aims at tapping into.
The expansion is informed by the thriving domestic tourism which the carrier intends to tap into.
Kenya’s tourism performance for the year 2018, witnessed a substantial improvement compared to 2017 in both tourism arrivals, domestic tourism performance and earnings.
Fly540 took to the skies in November 2006 with its first flights between Nairobi and Mombasa. In 2010, it expanded its operations internationally with services flying to Tanzania and South Sudan.
