Kenya Pipeline Company PLC has partnered with the Bloggers Association of Kenya as the official sponsor of the Environment Category at the 10th Annual BAKE Awards, backing digital creators who use their platforms to drive climate action and environmental conservation.
The partnership connects with this year’s awards theme, “The Creator Economy: Turning Content into Capital,” and sits within KPC PLC’s broader commitment to environmentally responsible operations across its infrastructure network.
Acting Managing Director Pius Mwendwa explained the thinking behind the sponsorship. “Environmental sustainability is central to KPC PLC’s purpose and long-term vision. We are proud to support creators who are leveraging digital platforms to champion conservation, climate action, and sustainable development, helping to build a greener future for generations to come.”
From Pipeline to Mangrove Forest
KPC PLC’s environmental record gives the partnership practical grounding. Over the past five years, the company worked alongside the Bidii Creek Conservation Group and other community forest associations to plant 1,210,020 mangrove trees across 100 hectares at Jomvu Creek, restoring a degraded coastal forest site in Mombasa County. That work reflects the kind of on-the-ground conservation the Environment Category at the BAKE Awards seeks to spotlight and encourage.
What the Environment Category Recognises
The category celebrates digital creators producing content on environmental conservation, climate action, sustainability and responsible natural resource management. By anchoring the category, KPC PLC signals that the energy infrastructure sector has a direct interest in how environmental narratives reach and shape public opinion in Kenya.
The BAKE Awards have spent a decade building into the primary platform for recognising excellence across Kenya’s digital content ecosystem, tracking how the creator economy has matured from a side pursuit into a significant economic force.
