Music streaming platform Spotify has launched its innovative “Daylist” feature in Kenya.
Daylist dynamically adjusts to users’ moods and listening preferences throughout the day.
What is Daylist?
Launched in late 2023, Daylist curates unique playlists that adapt to your typical listening habits at different times or on specific days of the week.
It updates frequently throughout the day, offering a hyper-personalized and dynamic listening experience that reflects your evolving mood.
In addition, new tracks and playlist titles are introduced with each update, helping you discover new music and understand your evolving taste in music.
How to Access and Use Daylist:
- Daylist is available for both free and premium users in Kenya.
- Search “daylist” on the Spotify app
- The daylist updates throughout the day. You can check the playlist page on your mobile app to see when the next update is expected.
- If you find a Daylist playlist you particularly enjoy, you can save it by tapping the three-dot menu, selecting “Add to playlist,” and then creating a new playlist.
- Daylist playlists are temporary and will be replaced with new selections during the next update.
Spotify Launches Music Video Streaming in Kenya
In addition to Daylist, Spotify has launched music video streaming for Premium users in Kenya.
This makes Kenya the only African country among the 11 markets where Spotify currently offers music video streaming in beta.
“We’re excited to launch music videos in beta for Spotify Premium users across 11 markets, adding another way to enhance the artist-to-fan connection,” the Swedish-owned audio streaming service provider said.
How Music Video Streaming on Spotify Impacts the Market:
This move could challenge YouTube’s dominance in the audio-visual space, particularly considering YouTube Music’s lower market share than Spotify.
Music videos are a popular category on YouTube, and Spotify’s entry into this area could change market dynamics.
