Equity Bank will discontinue its pioneering mobile banking application, the EazzyBanking App, initially introduced in 2016.
“Effective March 15th, 2024, the EazzyBanking App will no longer be operational, and existing users are encouraged to migrate to the new Equity Mobile App,” said the letter in an emailed statement seen by Khusoko.
The transition to the Equity Mobile App promises a more seamless and modern banking experience. Here are some of its key features:
- User-Friendly Interface: Equity Mobile is designed to provide a modern and intuitive user interface.
- Advanced Capabilities: The app integrates with international remittance platforms such as PayPal and Western Union, making sending and receiving money globally more accessible.
- Payment Scheduling: Customers can schedule payments directly from the app.
- Account Management: View account balances and transfer funds to other Equity Bank accounts regionally and internationally.
- Mobile Wallets: Send money to mobile wallets.
- Boostika and EazzyLoan Limits: Check your loan limits and manage your finances.
- One Equity Till Number: Make payments using the One Equity Till Number.
The move to the new app reflects Equity Bank’s commitment to advancing its digital banking services and ensuring a seamless experience for its customers.
According to Equity Group’s Q3’2023 financial performance, transaction numbers on EazzyNet, Equitel, and Equity Mobile App fell by 10%, 16%, and 68% to 1.6 million, 237.5 million, and 161.6 million, respectively.
Only Equitel recorded a decline in transaction value, with the aggregate transacted value falling by 38% to KES 1.19 trillion.
“You see disposable income for most of the households shrinking by up to 30%. That means reduced economic activities and that is reflected in the transaction volumes,” Equity Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. James Mwangi.
The Equity Mobile App is accessible to Android and iOS users in Kenya.
