Spiro Kenya, Kenya’s electric bike assembler, is at the forefront of the country’s transition to clean transportation.

The company’s extensive network of battery-swapping stations is a key component of its strategy to make electric bikes a convenient and accessible alternative to traditional petrol-powered boda bodas.

“We are constructing Africa’s largest EV plant, with a 500-hectare factory in each country, in which we will manufacture 1000 bikes and 2000 batteries per day,” reads the Spiro website.

“At multiple Spiro Battery Swapping Stations, any rider or driver of an electric vehicle with a battery running out of charge can go and trade their discharged batteries from the vehicle for a completely charged one.”

Spiro also has operations in Togo, Benin,‍ Rwanda and Uganda.
