Gor Mahia Clinch Record 21st FKF Premier League Title

Gor Mahia secured a historic 21st Kenyan Premier League title with three matches remaining in the season. 

They defeated relegation-threatened Muhoroni Youth 3-0 at the SportPesa Arena on Sunday.

K’Ogalo, as Gor Mahia are nicknamed, needed a win to retain their championship title. 

Lead striker Benson Omalla opened the scoring in the 38th minute after missing a penalty earlier. Boniface Omondi doubled the lead just three minutes into the second half. 

Midfielder Austin Odhiambo sealed the win with a fantastic goal in the 65th minute.

Police Challenge Fizzles

Tusker dealt a significant blow to Kenya Police’s title aspirations with a narrow 1-0 victory on Saturday at the Dandora Stadium. 

Police had been Gor Mahia’s closest challengers in the second half of the season, but consecutive losses to AFC Leopards and now Tusker have ended their championship hopes.

Charles Momanyi’s Heroics for Tusker

Defender Charles Momanyi scored his second goal in as many matches to secure the win for Tusker in the 43rd minute. This victory consolidates their second-place position in the league standings.

Police Shift Focus to Cup Competition

Despite the setback, the Police remain in third place, 13 points behind Gor Mahia. They can now focus their efforts on the Mozzart Bet FKF Cup, where they have a chance to win their first-ever domestic cup trophy. They face AFC Leopards in the semi-finals on May 26th.

Relegation Battle Heats Up

Shabana FC missed a golden opportunity to climb out of the relegation zone after losing 2-1 to Kariobangi Sharks. They took the lead in the first half but conceded two goals in quick succession through John Mark Makwatta in the final minutes.

Homeboyz Lose Ground

Kakamega Homeboyz also lost their ninth-place position after a 2-1 defeat to Posta Rangers. Brian Eshihanda gave Homeboyz an early lead, but Posta Rangers fought back to claim all three points.
