Human Mobile Devices (HMD), the Finnish company that designs and manufactures Nokia phones, has relaunched the iconic Nokia 3210.

This phone, a symbol of the late 90s and early 2000s, focuses on helping users disconnect from their smartphones and embrace a digital detox.

The relaunch comes amid a growing market for feature phones, also known as ‘dumbphones’. HMD’s Nokia 2660 flip phone sales doubled in 2023, reflecting a consumer desire for simpler devices. This trend is particularly strong among young adults (16-24), increasingly concerned about excessive smartphone use.

“The Nokia 3210, a cultural icon, is back at the pinnacle of the global dumbphone boom as consumers look to balance their screen time usage with a digital detox.  The Nokia 3210 has simplicity, allowing consumers to be totally present. Forget dumbphone, this is 2024’s fun phone,” Lars Silberbauer, CMO of HMD, says.

Nokia 3210: A Modern Take on a Classic

The new Nokia 3210 retains the classic design elements that made it a cultural icon but with modern upgrades:

  • Sleek Retro Design: A modern take on the original design, evoking nostalgia.
  • Focus on Disconnection:  Limited features encourage users to disconnect from social media, the internet, and endless apps.
  • Essential Features: Includes a 2MP camera with flash (and torch!), long-lasting 1450 mAh battery, and 4G connectivity for clear calls.
  • Y2K Colors: Available in three bold colours reminiscent of the late 90s/early 2000s – Scuba Blue, Y2K Gold, and Grunge Black.
  • Snake is Back: The iconic Snake game is included, letting users relive a classic mobile gaming experience.

The Nokia 3210 is aimed at users seeking a break from the constant connectivity of smartphones. It provides a way to disconnect and reconnect with the real world, all wrapped in a stylish and nostalgic package.
