June Chepkemei has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), effective March 20, 2024. This follows Gazette Notice No. 3226 issued on March 19, 2024.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 37(1) of the Tourism Act, 2011, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife appoints June Teclar Chepkemei to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Tourism Board,” reads the notice in part.

Chepkemei brings extensive experience, having served as the Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) for one year.

Prior to that, she held leadership positions in marketing and communications at Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) and Safaricom.

As part of her new role, she will lead the development and implementation of national tourism marketing strategies and oversee efforts to attract and grow tourism investment in Kenya.

The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) was established under the Tourism Act (2011). It is a state corporation responsible for promoting Kenya as a premier tourist destination.
