Stumble upon Colors, a YouTube channel where music comes alive in a simple, stunning way. Forget fancy sets; their colourful studio welcomes artists from around the globe to perform raw, uninterrupted sets.

It’s all about the music, folks, showcasing diverse talent and becoming your secret gateway to incredible tunes.

The Colors Story

Born in 2016 by Philipp Starcke and Felix Glasmeyer, ColorsXSTUDIOS quickly rose to fame with its unique concept: artists bathed in vibrant hues, stripping down their music to its essence. This stripped-back approach resonated with music lovers worldwide, celebrating genres and voices from every corner of the planet.

A Haven for Discovery

Colors became a hotspot for music discovery, offering artists an intimate space to shine and connect with new fans. They embraced raw talent, from rising stars to established names, giving everyone a platform to share their soul through music.

Kenyan R&B Takes the Stage

My excitement was through the roof when I discovered Kenyan R&B artists gracing the Colors stage! Here are some highlights:

  • Lisa Oduor-Noah: An established artist with an ethereal performance of “For Keeps.” (Check out her amazing discography here!)

  • Xenia Manasseh: Showcasing her talent and style with “Wild Ride,” though I admit “Anticipate” or “Love/Hate” would have been my picks!

  • Karun: Camp Mulla legend and all-around vibe queen, Karun delivered a killer performance of “Only You” in an unforgettable outfit.

  • Bien Aime Baraza (Sauti Sol): Vocalist, songwriter, and member of Kenya’s powerhouse group, Bien, showcased his smooth vocals and groove with “True Love.”

New Gems on the Horizon

Thanks to a Spotify partnership with COLORSxSTUDIOS, a Nairobi writing camp in October 2023 brought together African and diaspora talent.

This collaboration continues to unearth Kenyan R&B gems, like Nyokabi Kariũki and Maya Amolo, who were both impressed with their performances on the show.
