Sarova Stanley’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony: A Festive Tradition

The 2023 Christmas Sarova Stanley Tree Lighting Ceremony was held Friday along Kimathi Street, Nairobi.

The Sarova Stanley, Kenya’s luxury hotel, has been making history since 1902. 

It has hosted royal safaris, legendary personalities, and historic events. Today, as the hotel enters its second century, it continues to maintain its unique heritage and provide state-of-the-art services and facilities for business and leisure travellers.

One of the hotel’s most cherished traditions is the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which marks the beginning of the festive season. It comes immediately after cake mixing.

The ceremony was held Friday at the hotel’s courtyard, where its magnificent acacia tree is decorated with lights, ornaments, and ribbons. The tree lighting event was attended by guests, staff, and invited dignitaries, who enjoyed live music, refreshments, and a festive atmosphere.

For Stanley, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony is more than just a celebration; it is also a gesture of goodwill and social responsibility. 

The hotel partners with various charities and organizations to support the less fortunate and vulnerable members of society. For instance, in 2020, the hotel donated food, blankets, and masks to the street children of Nairobi. 

The Sarova Stanley’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony is a festive tradition that reflects the hotel’s values of excellence, heritage, and social impact.

Duncan Mwangi, Front Office General Manager Sarova Stanley Hotel, described the Christmas Sarova Stanley Tree Lighting Ceremony as “the very first after a peaceful 2022 Kenya General Elections” and tough years after the COVID-19 pandemic, and they wanted to share it with all who have had patronage with them.
