Powerhive, a leading electric mobility company, has partnered with Mobius Motors, a Kenyan vehicle manufacturer, to enhance the local production of its Spark Electric Motorcycles.

The collaboration aims to support the sustainable mobility landscape in the region by providing affordable and reliable electric vehicles.

The collaboration involves setting up a bonded warehouse within the Mobius Motors facility, exclusively for the assembly of Spark bikes. The warehouse can produce up to 150 Spark bikes per factory shift, which aligns with Powerhive’s mission to expand its battery-swapping network across Africa.

“Our partnership with Mobius allows us to focus on scaling the premier battery swapping network in East Africa,” says Christopher Hornor, Powerhive’s CEO.

“As the only licensed utility in the Kenyan EV landscape, our strength is in the energy side of battery swapping.”

Mobius Motors is known for its quality and precision in vehicle production. It shares Powerhive’s vision of delivering sustainable mobility solutions in Africa.

Together, the two companies will streamline the production of Spark motorcycles and increase their market presence in Kenya and beyond.

Powerhive’s capital-light approach to manufacturing enables them to prioritize the expansion of the charging network and the development of advanced battery technology.

The partnership is expected to improve the availability and accessibility of Spark Electric Motorcycles and contribute to the growth of sustainable mobility in the region.

Nicolas Guibert, CEO of Mobius Motors, says, “We are proud to partner with Powerhive as they transform the Boda Boda business with a clean electric solution. We are offering the best of our resources and experiences to give them an edge in the market with best-in-class assembly quality and technical support in their after-sales operations.”
