Vanessa Kingori, the Chief Business Officer of Condé Nast Britain and Vogue European Business Advisor, has been recognized as the 9th most powerful black person in the UK by the Powerlist 2024.

Born in Kenya and based in the UK, Kingori has had a successful career in publishing.

The Powerlist, now in its 18th year, celebrates individuals of African, African Caribbean, and African American heritage.

It serves as a source of inspiration for young people by highlighting black role models.

Vanessa Kingori’s career began at the Evening Standard. She later moved to Esquire before finding her most significant success at Condé Nast.

In September 2017, she made history by becoming the first female and first person of colour to be appointed as the publishing director of all British Vogue platforms.

This also made her Condé Nast UK’s youngest serving Publishing Director.

In September 2021, Vanessa Kingori was promoted to Chief Business Officer for all Condé Nast Britain brands, which include Vogue, GQ, GQ Style, Wired, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Tatler, Johansen’s, Conde Nast Traveler, House & Garden and The World of Interiors.

She continues to lead British Vogue directly and also serves as Vogue’s European Business Advisor.

Edward Enninful, OBE, the editor-in-chief of British Vogue and the first black man to hold this position at the British fashion magazine, has been named the UK’s most influential black person by the Powerlist.

He is also the European editorial director of Condé Nast.

The Powerlist 2024 also includes Afua Kyei, Bank of England’s chief financial officer, and Steven Bartlett, a star on Dragon’s Den and a popular podcaster.
