Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) has launched a new platform, Safaricom Hook, aimed at empowering youth through technology.

It is designed to support the aspirations of the Gen Z demographic by providing access to custom-made offerings via Safaricom’s mobile network.

“At Safaricom, we are keen on helping our young people leverage the transformative power of technology. Through Safaricom Hook, we aim to provide a platform for young Kenyans seeking inspiration, opportunities, and a sense of belonging in a constantly evolving world,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.

“As the name suggests, Safaricom wants to create a lasting connection with a generation that has unique needs.”

Safaricom Hook aims to enable Gen Z to maximize their online potential and enjoy a digital lifestyle.

It facilitates smartphone access, provides relevant value propositions such as Make Your Bundle, and offers loyalty rewards.

The platform focuses on three main areas: technology, career, and culture.

The Tech Hook will provide the youth with digital skills for a tech future through various programs and partnerships.

The Career Hook aims to prepare the youth for both conventional and unconventional careers by working with partners to provide digital training and guidance.

The Culture hook enables Gen Z to pursue their passions such as sports, content creation, and fashion through various initiatives and partnerships.

To promote a savings culture, Safaricom Hook will leverage M-PESA Go and the Mali wealth management platform.

Customers aged 10 to 24 can join the platform via the Safaricom Hook app or by dialling *555#.
