Majid Al Futtaim, through its franchise Carrefour has opened its second branch in Nairobi’s central business district (CBD).

The new branch, located at St. Ellis Building along Wabera Street, targets shoppers working in the CBD.

Nakumatt Supermarkets formally occupied it.

It becomes the 17th outlet of the Dubai-based conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim’s local franchise in the Kenyan capital.

The decision to establish the store in this location was influenced by the high volume of shoppers in the city, particularly during the day, thereby increasing shopping convenience.

In addition, it is a response to the ongoing dominance of small retailers who are continually opening convenience stores not only in urban centres but also within residential areas.

Furthermore, the foreign retailer is aggressively seeking to establish its dominance and increase its market share in the face of stiff competition from rivals such as Naivas and Quickmart, as well as small retailers who are consistently opening convenience stores not only in urban areas but also in residential neighbourhoods.

Other Carrefour stores in Nairobi include the Hub, Garden City, Two Rivers, Southfield Mall, TRM, Sarit, Nairobi Mega Mall, Village Market, Next Gen Mall,  Business Bay in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area and Galleria Mall.
