The Development Bank of Kenya (DBK) has opened its first branch outside of Nairobi in Mombasa.
The new branch, located along Mombasa’s Moi Avenue in the central business district (CBD), is a testament to DBK’s commitment to serving diverse customer needs and thriving in Kenya’s growing banking industry.
DBK Chairman Ndungu Githinji expressed enthusiasm for this expansion, stating, “This is a testament to our unwavering commitment to serving our customers and fulfilling their diverse needs.”
“We aim to provide integrated banking products and solutions, especially to unbanked individuals, in alignment with the Central Bank of Kenya’s endeavours to foster financial inclusion.”
The launch represents a significant milestone in DBK’s dedication to extending its reach across Kenya and addressing the unique financial needs of its valued clients.
According to Githinji, this expansion aligns with DBK’s unwavering commitment to customer service and financial inclusion, as well as the Central Bank of Kenya’s initiatives.
The Development Bank of Kenya was established in 1963 as a non-banking financial institution, DBK initially focused on promoting and developing commercially viable projects in Kenya.
In 1994, it transitioned into a development finance institution. By 1997, DBK had converted into a commercial bank, expanding its service offerings.
