Ebwali Boys of Vihiga emerged as the champions of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Western Regional Finals boys’ category after a narrow 1-0 win over Compel Sportif of Bungoma.

Austin Odongo, headed in a free kick in the 47th minute to score the final’s solitary goal.

Compel Sportif tried to equalize, but they were denied by Ebwali’s goalkeeper, who made several saves to keep a clean sheet.

Titus Gambo, Compel’s hat trick hero in the semi-final, saw his penalty saved in the final by
goalkeeper Nelson Angayia in the 58th minute. Compel also hit the post late in the second
half, but their late rally did not bear fruit.

“I have been a goalkeeper since class 4. I am glad my efforts since the county level have
ensured that my team makes it to the Chapa Dimba national finals. I have struggled so
much in life, and football is my way to make it in life,” said goalkeeper Nelson Angayia.

Ebwali Boys dominated the game with their possession and passing, while Compel Sportif relied on their physicality and long balls.

Both teams had chances to score, but they lacked the finishing touch in front of goal.

The winners walked away with a cash prize of Ksh 200,000 and a ticket to the national finals, where they will face other regional champions for a chance to win Ksh 1 million and a trip to Spain.

The runners-up received Ksh 100,000 and trophies.
