Brenda Girls from Webuye and Compel Sportiff FC emerged as the champions of the Bungoma County Safaricom Chapa Dimba finals in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively on Friday at the Pan Paper Grounds.

Brenda Girls crushed Kim Girls from Mt. Elgon 6-0, while Compel Sportiff defeated Sirare Youth 2-0 in thrilling matches that showcased the talent and passion of the young players.

“This is the second year we are participating in the Chapa Dimba, last edition we were knocked out at the sub-county level but this year I am happy we have managed to secure a slot to play at the regional finals. We dominated the entire game and we look forward to replicating the same tactics in the regional final matches,” Dickson Simiyu, Coach, Brenda Girls.

The winners received Ksh 50,000 each and will represent Bungoma County in the regional finals, where they will face other champions from Western Kenya.

The runners-up, Kim Girls and Sirare Youth received Ksh 30,000 each as consolation prizes.

The best goalkeeper, top scorer, and most valuable player in both categories were also awarded Ksh 10,000 each and a TVET scholarship from the Safaricom Foundation for their outstanding performances.

The Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament is a grassroots football initiative that aims to nurture and empower young players across the country.

The next county finals will be held on Sunday at Kakamega High School Grounds, where Lugusi Boys from Malava will meet The Menace FC in the boys’ category and Lugari Progressive from Lugari Constituency will contend with Kakamega Starlets in the girls’ category.
