Bunyore Assasins and Ebwali Boys from Vihiga County won their semi-final matches last weekend to advance to the finals of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba grassroots tournament.

Bunyore Assasins outlasted Bumunyange Forces 5-1 and Ebwali Boys took down Chavakali Boys by 2.0.

The two will play their finals Sunday at Maseno Polytechnic.

Other teams from Kakamega, Busia and Bungoma counties will play their third round on Saturday and Sunday to secure a place in the fourth round, which will be played in August.

This weekend, Kakamega teams will play 206 matches, followed by Bungoma (156) and Busia (54).

The Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament kicked off in the Western region on July 8, 2023.

The aim of the tournament is to transform the lives of young people by giving them a platform to showcase their talent and an opportunity to earn from their passion.

The county champions in both the girls’ and boys’ categories will be awarded Kshs 75,000 each, while the second-place finishers will receive Kshs 30,000 each.

At the regional level, the top teams in each category will earn a significant prize of Kshs 250,000, while the runners-up will receive Kshs 150,000.

As the competition progresses to the national stage, the semi-finalists in each category will receive Kshs 250,000 each.

The second-place finishers will be presented with a sum of Kshs 500,000.

Finally, the ultimate winners in both categories will be declared champions and will receive a grand prize of Kshs 1,000,000.
