    Safaricom Foundation invests KES 170M in community programs

    In the recently concluded phase 4, the Foundation funded 392 projects worth Ksh 100 million, impacting over 700,000 lives.

    The Safaricom Foundation has allocated Ksh 170 million to fund community investment programs in health, education, and economic empowerment, benefiting over 1.6 million Kenyans.

    The funds will be distributed through the Foundation’s sustainable philanthropy programs: Ndoto Zetu, Pamoja, and Usamaria. Ndoto Zetu, now in its fifth phase, supports individual Kenyans in realizing their community dreams and aspirations.

    Ksh 100 million has been allocated to this initiative, with submissions open from July 12th to August 11th, 2023.

    Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said the transformation seen through Ndoto Zetu affirms Kenyans’ passion for positively impacting their communities.

    “Each dream we help fulfil translates to thousands of lives being uplifted, that is why we are keen to continue partnering with Kenyans to transform lives,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.

    Additionally, Ksh 50 million has been allocated to the Pamoja Scheme, which enables Safaricom staff to engage in community projects, and Ksh 20 million to Usamaria, which supports economically disadvantaged patients by offsetting their medical bills in public hospitals.

    Since 2019, the Safaricom Foundation has invested Ksh 271 million in over 1400 Ndoto Zetu community projects in education, health, and economic empowerment, improving the lives of more than 1.9 million Kenyans.

    Kenyans wishing to participate in Ndoto Zetu can send a written submission through the Ndoto Zetu portal www.safaricomfoundation.org/ndotozetu/application-form/ or visit any Safaricom Retail Shop and fill in an application form for a chance to have their community dream realized.
