    Amos Butit Clinches the Second Leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour

    Caroline Koech was named the lady winner of the day, having carded 18 points in the first nine, and 20 points in the second nine to take home the award with 38 points.

    The Overall winner at Eldoret Club, Amos Butit, tees off during the 2 nd leg of the KCB East Africa Golf tour. But carded 40 stableford points to be crowned champion.

    Eldoret-based businessman Amos Butit emerged as the overall winner of the second leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the Eldoret Golf Club on Saturday.

    The handicap 18 golfer carded 40 stableford points to beat 112 players.

    Anand Lakini playing off handicap 5 carded 19 points in the first nine, and 20 points in the back nine to clinch the overall men’s winner award with 39 points.

    Speaking after his win, Butit said: “I started off on the wrong foot, playing terribly in the first three holes, but I managed to up my game as we progressed. I had an incredible four-ball team who were not only competitive but also encouraging. In the second nine, I had a birdie, 6 bogeys and 7 pars. Looking forward to tournaments to come, this win has given me more reason to play golf.”

    Caroline Koech was named the lady winner of the day, having carded 18 points in the first nine, and 20 points in the second nine to take home the award with 38 points.

    junior category

    In the junior category, handicap 19 golfer Emmanuel Mbatia managed to see off all his competitors to emerge victorious with 33 points.

    Scola Onsongo who had a stellar performance during the first leg of the tournament at Vetlab Sports Club, managed to defend her crown, winning the Staff category award with 35 points while Michael Chebii carded 34 stableford points to win the guest winner award.

    A group of Philip Meli, Gilbert Chebii, Grace Mary, and Jane Koech scooped the team of the day award carding 110 points and will participate in the grand finale in November.

    While Tony Chemweno won the longest drive in the men’s category, Cynthia Chelugui claimed it in the women’s category.

    The tour will head to Limuru Country Club for its third leg this coming weekend before the Railway Golf Club edition in Nairobi County.
