Aviation firm 748 Air Services has suspended its passenger flights business in Kenya. The airline says it will focus on its core business.
“After extensive review of our business strategy, we have opted to focus on our core business, the Humanitarian Aviation, currently operating in seven African countries,” Moses Mwangi, the Managing Director, said in an emailed statement.
The suspension now leaves carriers like Jambojet, Safarilink, and Renegade Air, which also operate in some of their destinations.
748 Air, which has already suspended operations on the Nairobi-Kisumu route, will also stop flying to Mombasa, Diani, Malindi, and Maasai Mara.
“We, therefore, regret to inform you that we have resolved to suspend all our domestic scheduled commercial flights effective March 1, 2023.”
The airline says its ARS system will remain open until June 2023 to allow the processing of refunds for all advanced tickets paid.
The airline started daily flights from Nairobi to Mombasa and Diani in June 2021.
The airline started twice-daily passenger operations on the Kisumu route in May 2021 from its hub at JKIA in Nairobi.
The airline started operating Nairobi-Malindi flights in October 2021.
