American media services provider Netflix Inc has reduced its subscription prices in Kenya and Sub-Saharan Africa, effective February 21.

According to Netflix, the mobile plan will now be priced at Ksh 200, down from Ksh 300, and their basic plan will be priced at Ksh 300, down from Ksh 700. The standard plan will now cost Ksh 700, previously Ksh 1,100, and the premium plan will cost Ksh 1,100, previously Ksh 1,450.

“Our goal is simple: to offer a wide variety of quality shows and films curated for you. New members who sign up will see the new prices immediately. The update will roll out to existing members from their next billing cycle over the coming weeks,” said Netflix.

“Existing members will be notified by email, [as well as within the Netflix app 30 days before the new prices are applied to them (this is only for auto-upgrades). The exact timing will depend on the specific member’s billing cycle.”
