• The defending champions beat a resilient Morocco to book a spot in the finals
  • Goals from Theo Hernandez and substitute Randal Kolo Muani set a mouth-watering clash with Argentina

France fought off a spirited Morocco side to book an epic clash against Argentina in the World Cup finals.

Didier Deschamps’ side took an early lead when Theo Hernandez found the net with an acrobatic finish after Kylian Mbappe’s effort had been blocked by Achraf Dari.

It was the first time that the Atlas Lions had found themselves behind in the tournament and tried to rally back into the match buoyed by a sea of fans cheering them on.

The North Africans kept pushing but struggled to find the key pass into the area with the Les Bleus defense keeping them at bay.

Their push for an equalizer would be extinguished late in the match when substitute Kolo Muani tapped the ball into the net – with his first touch of the match.

France now has their eyes on the final against Lionel Messi’s Argentina as they aim to become the first side to retain the World Cup since Brazil in 1962.
