Argentina beat the Netherlands on penalties to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.

In a clash full of emotions, the South Americans took the lead in the first half when Lionel Messi’s exquisite pass found Nahuel Molina, who put the ball into the net.

Messi would double the lead in the second half from the spot when Denzel Dumfries brought down Marcos Acuna in the box.

The tie looked all set before Louis Van Gaal sent in Wout Weghorst, who would repay the faith with two goals – one coming in the game’s final minute.

The match went to extra time, and the South Americans looked up to win the match but could not find the net.

Emiliano Martinez would then save penalties from Virgil van Djik and Steven Berghuis before Lautaro Martinez put the ball in the net and booked a semi-final clash against Croatia.
