Saudi Arabia shocks the world with a 2-1 win over Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

The Arabians rallied from a goal down to produce one of the biggest upsets in the tournament’s history in the opening match of Group C.

The South American side began brightly and went up ahead in the 10th minute thanks to a spot-kick by Lionel Messi after VAR adjudged that Saud Abdulhamid brought down Leandro Paredes in the area.

The South Americans kept pushing for a second goal and had three goals ruled out for offside.

The Arabians began their comeback soon after half-time, with Saleh Al Shehri producing a neat finish from a wide angle to equalize.

They would go ahead minutes later when Salem Al Dawsar fired in an unstoppable curling strike beyond Emiliano Martínez.

Lionel Scaloni’s men pushed to get back into the match, but their attempts to grab an equalizer were thwarted by goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais and heroic tackles that were celebrated by fans and players alike.
