Century Microfinance Bank changed its name to Branch Microfinance Bank Ltd to reflect the diversity of its business portfolio as it seeks to grow towards being a Pan-African digital bank.
According to Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge, the change took effect on June 8, 2022, via a Kenya Gazette Notice.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that the specified microfinance bank, formerly known as Century Microfinance Bank Limited, has, by resolution of the Board and approval of the Registrar of Companies, effected a change of name from Century Microfinance Bank Limited to Branch Microfinance Bank Limited with effect from June 8, 2022,” Dr Patrick Njorogesaid in the notice dated June 24, 2022.
Branch International is the first mobile digital lender to acquire a majority stake (84.89 per cent) in a banking institution on February 8, 2022.
Branch currently serves customers in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, and India, with offices in Nairobi, Lagos, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Silicon Valley.
