RwandAir’s CEO and managing director Yvonne Makolo is set to become the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) first female chair of the board of governors.

This follows her being named chair-elect at IATA’s 78th Annual General Meeting in Doha.

Makolo, who assumed her role as RwandAir’s CEO on April 6, 2018, will take over from Pegasus Airlines Vice-Chairperson of the Board Mehmet Tevfik Nane, according to IATA.

Nane assumed his duties as Chair of the IATA BoG for a one-year term, effective from the conclusion of the 78th IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Doha, Qatar on June 21, 2022.

Nane succeeds JetBlue Airways CEO Robin Hayes, who will continue to serve on IATA’s BoG.
